Module 1
Laws Related to the Use of Force & Deadly Force
- Use of Force Laws
- Self Defense & Stand Your Ground
- Castle Doctrine and Defending Property
Module 2
Handgun Use & Safety
- Basic safety principles, expertly manage handling, storage, and transportation.
- Master shooting methods and acquire fundamental shooting abilities.
- Encourage responsible ownership of firearms, advocating for safe and responsible firearm handling.
Module 3
Non-Violent Dispute Resolution
- Learn methods of de-escalation to effectively defuse tense situations.
- Acquire skills in resolving conflicts through peaceful means.
- Utilize your acquired skills in various settings such as your residence, workplace, and public spaces.
Module 4
Proper & Safe Storage of Handgun
- Gain knowledge on different techniques for appropriately storing your firearm.
- Learn consequences when a child gains access to firearm
- Highlight the importance of secure storage, especially in households with children.
Module 5
Complete The Live Shooting Portion
- Meet a LTC Instructor in person in your area

Each student is still required to meet with a local LTC Certified Instructor for the shooting proficiency.
Texas used to call their handgun license a Concealed Handgun License (CHL) but it was replaced with the License to Carry (LTC) which allows for Concealed and Open Carry
You will schedule a day/time to meet with a Certified LTC Instructor in your area at a local gun range. Our locator does not include all LTC Instructors. If you cannot find one here, just do a google search for “local LTC Instructor”.

YES, new law allows for persons 18 and older to take the class and obtain their License to Carry.
No. Texas will issue a Texas LTC (License to Carry) to ANYONE who has a valid drivers license or state ID issued by any one of the 50 States AND meets their requirements. It’s very easy to get a License to Carry in Texas.
Once you submit your online application , the department will make every effort to issue your Texas License to Carry within 60 days. This may very depending on how busy they are.
